R is freely-available data science platform. A recent survey of job postings for data scientists indicate that skills in Python and R each appear in more than 60% of the job descriptions. Another recent survey asked nearly 10,000 R users the open-ended question: “What do you like most about R?”. The two most common responses were “community” and “packages”, far outpacing “free”, “power”,…. This conference is both a demonstration and celebration of that community.
Peer-reviewed presentations focus on R packages, with talks by both developers and users with interesting applications of packages developed by others. We also encourage presentations by anyone who is developing a package — or hopes to entice a developer to fill some current void.
Interested and have something to share, but can’t make it? Not a problem. We understand that R developers and enthusiasts are global citizens, with busy schedules (and in many cases limited finances). Nonetheless want to share with us?
Do a REMOTE Poster Session!!
One more thing … All presenters qualify to submit a chapter for inclusion in the forthcoming peer-reviewed book:
“A Sampler of R Packages and Their Applications”
NOTE TO NEWER R USERS: R packages bundle together code, data, documentation, and example applications, and there are 66,878 publicly-available packages at four websites (via https://rdrr.io/, as of 7/7//19), all free to use. The most trusted site is CRAN, the Comprehensive R Archive Network (at https://cran.r-project.org/, which can be searched by topic using its Task Views link on LHS of page.
